Metallica Release New EP in Anticipation For Australian Tour

So Metallica are so freaking pumped about coming to Australia that they decide to release a Live EP with recordings from the last time they were here!! 3 of which are from Perth. How awesome!!
Taken from the Metclub website;

We're getting psyched up for our return to Australia and New Zealand next week . . . it's been six long years since we've visited and we're ready to throw down! The nice people at Universal Music were so darn excited that they actually suggested that we release something special to commemorate this last run of World Magnetic tour dates, so . . . ta-da . . . we present the "Six Feet Down Under" limited edition EP! Coming to Trans-Tasman record stores and right here in the MetStore on September 20.

Here's the story . . . the collective brain trust came up with what we thought might be a kinda fun idea . . . how about some live recordings from each time we have been lucky enough to visit the area? It was all well and good until we realized that we did not start making multi-track recordings of every show until 2004 . . . oops! But you guys, the fans, came to our rescue with some pretty decent bootleg options and we trimmed those down to two songs from each tour in 1989, 1993, 1998, and 2004. In digging a little deeper, it occurred to us that we had tracks that had never before been released as "live b-sides" (we're not counting the bonus songs on i-Tunes, okay?) and that that added to the adventure of pulling it all together.

Be gentle with us . . . a few of these songs are, well, we'll say "rough," which may be an understatement!! They do, however, capture the live moments and hopefully you'll have as much fun listening as we did playing on those nights.

The Tracklist is....
1. Eye of the Beholder [Recorded live on May 4, 1989 at Festival Hall in Melbourne]
2. ...And Justice For All [Recorded live on May 4, 1989 at Festival Hall in Melbourne]
3. Through the Never [Recorded live on April 8, 1993 at the Entertainment Centre in Perth]
4. The Unforgiven [Recorded live on April 4, 1993 at the National Tennis Centre in Melbourne]
5. Low Man's Lyric (Acoustic) [Recorded live on April 11, 1998 at the Entertainment Centre in Perth ]
6. Devil's Dance [Recorded live on April 12, 1998 at the Entertainment Centre in Perth]
7. Frantic [Recorded live on January 21, 2004 at the Entertainment Centre in Sydney]
8. Fight Fire With Fire [Recorded live on January 19, 2004 at the Entertainment Centre in Brisbane]
Seems pretty freakin sweet!

The Final Frontier is here!

So I preordered the Final Frontier, Iron Maidens new album, to pick up on monday which is the day of its Worldwide release.
So I'm at JB Hi-Fi yesterday and walk in and Clark points out the album on a shelf and i'm thinking wtf? So I picked it up and took it to the counter and said "Ummm I have a preorder could I pick that up please?".
So I pay at the counter hoping they don't release that it hasn't actually been released yet in the process of the transaction going through. So I pay, they give it to me and I said "Ya know, its not released till Monday right?"
the chick out the counter had the kinda "ohhh......." look on her face but the guy next to her said that they can put it out whenever, which is kinda worrying since it did have an emborgo on it.

So I got home and I has the final frontier!!

I'v listened to it and its freaking fantastic. My favorite track so far is Isle of Avalon.
The Alcheimist sounds a lot like older Maiden songs which is good.

Overall I give the album an 8 Eddie the Head heads out of 10

Soundwave Rumors... Iron Maiden

Rumors have been circulating for a while now that Iron Maiden will be performing at the 2011 Soundwave tour.

And those Rumors just seemed to be ever more oh so true. Reason being is that Iron Maiden's newsletter sent out to its awesome fans such as myself a few days ago said...

“If you’re of an Australian persuasion, you might want to keep an eye
 on the website next week.”

And seeing as Next Week is now this week, we can also look at what else is announced this week... Soundwave.

Oh yes, it is more than likely that the New Wave of British Heavy Metal Pioneers will be headlining next years Soundwave. (If Airbourne get announced also (which I doubt for some reason) I will cry from joy)

Either that or they announce their own Australian tour and it all just happens to be pure coincidence. Whatever happens i'm still extremely happy.

It wouldn't surprise me at all if they were going to Soundwave because last year when I looked at Soundwave's promo art I thought Maiden was actually coming then....
Coincidence?

Anyways thats enough of my Maiden fanboynerdness ranting, heres a song for you guys to get into that Maiden mood...

lollolololololololol.

This is what you get Kings of Leon. Hahaha
Kings Of Leon Concert Cut By Pigeon Poop

"Hold the Hitchcock jokes. Kings Of Leon had to cut short its concert at St. Louis' Verizon Amphitheater (July 23) after a flock of pigeons living in the venue's rafters unmercilessly divebombed the band with poop.

In an attempt to avoid dissapointing fans, the Followill guys had decided to go on with the show even after openers The Postelles and The Stills returned from the stage covered in pigeon excrement.

"We couldn't believe what The Postelles and The Stills looked like after their sets," said Jared Followill in a statement released by the band. "We didn't want to cancel the show, so we went for it. We tried to play. It was ridiculous."

Kings Of Leon made it through three songs before some of the poop landed near the bassist's mouth and the band decided the pigeon hazard had grown too extreme to finish the show.

Live Nation has already announced that St. Louis Kings of Leon concertgoers may get the price of their tickets refunded at the point of purchase beginning on July 26."

Happy Birthday

Well sorry guys I know I made a promise not to post stuff about AC/DC but Iv been pretty good so here I go.

Happy Birthday Back in Black!. The Iconic album was released 30 years ago today.
The first album to feature Brian Johnson after Bon Scott's untimely death rocketed AC/DC into the charts.
It still currently sits as the second highest selling album of all time, just behind Michael Jackson's "Thriller".

Heres a couple of quotes about the album
"Angus had the title "Hells Bells" and I was just taking a piss and I just thought, "Hang on, why don’t we get a big fucking bell?""  - Malcolm Young

"I was never brought in to replace Bon. I was brought in because Bon was there no more, except in spirit." - Brian Johnson

"The guys wanted to make a good rock record in memory of Bon, but without the slabber, without all the mulch and the crap that usually goes with that." - Brian Johnson

"We always went along exactly as we were. We’d always done what we wanted to do. We never bothered with what anyone else said what we can do and what we can’t do. That’s why we’re probably still together as a band." - Angus Young

"[Brian] had the toughness. He had the commitment. He was showing that he had some balls." - Phil Rudd

Bring Airbourne to Perth!

Please Sign The Petition!

Hello All

Currently Airbourne are venturing on a worldwide tour thats bringing their show to nearly every part of the world... with one exception, Perth.

Airbourne's currently planned dates for their Australian tour include Brisbane, Sydney, Adelaide, Melbourne and Canberra.

Many of their West Australian fans have been left behind and in the dark without proper consideration from Airbourne's management.

I have created a Petition on GoPetitions to help other West Australian fans such as myself, hopefully get a chance to see Airbourne live in concert without having to travel to the other side of the country.

The link for the petition is: http://www.gopetition.com/petition/37911.html

If you could please sign it (your name won't be publicly shown when you sign it) it would be greatly appreciated. Even if you don't listen to them yourself, you wan't to get into their music, your a massive fan or if you know a fan then please sign this petition.

One Step Closer

Well Mr Wong, you owe me one as I have gotten you One Step Closer (GET IT!?!) to hearing an audio preview or whatever it is on the LP website. Even though it would have probably only been a space of a couple of seconds if I hadn't of done this.

Please find attached below proof.
Thank You

P.S. Looking on the designers website it seems they designed AC/DC's website aswell... which is a shame cause its a piece of crap.

One of the biggest "Up Yours" in Rock 'n' Roll History.

Ok let me emphasis first before I write this post. I am keeping to my word that i wont blog about the music of my liking. This is merely a blog about what Iron Maiden did that anyone will find interest in. Thanks.

Anyways I found out about this video. Its from Iron Maiden performing on some German T.V. show in 1986. What happened was the show required them to lip-sync the song... something Iron Maiden despises. So what they did, well I think so, was pretty funny. They decided to fuck around with 'em a bit. Id like to see the faces of the shows producers and what shit went on afterwards with the shows crew. Watch the video, its quite funny.

Good on ya' Iron Maiden.
