Mario Galaxy 2 Leaked Online and Hurt Locker Is Suing You!

Well, Mario Galaxy 2 got leaked online about 18 hours ago. Doesn't surprise me that it did though. For some reason, i'm actually going to BUY this game(yes, I just said that...) but ill download it until it comes out in Australia. One things for sure, ill wait until its actually released first after this case appeared during the week.

Voltage Pictures, the production company of "The Hurt Locker", the movie that won a handful of Academy Awards and other crap like that, are now suing torrenters who downloaded the movie before its release. The reason behind this is that, even though it was critically acclaimed, it pretty much grossed jack shit. So as any media production company would do, they blame it on teh internets. Claiming that it grossed nothing because people had downloaded it before its cinematic (now thats a word I don't use enough) release, the company is now suing thousands of online users. If you downloaded the movie AFTER its cinematic release, your in the all clear but if you downloaded it before, your in shit. BUT to me this seems like a gigantic load of shit. First off, most people don't torrent a movie because they don't want to pay to see it or buy it, it's because they can't afford it or either don't really want to see it that much (to go off to a cinema to see it). Secondly, I and a lot of others had barely heard of the Hurt Locker until it won a few awards. Sorry but whoever managed the advertisement aspect side of the movie did a really shitty job. Thirdly, there was barely any exposure to the film, when it was out, it was only out in a few cinemas and it wasn't in cinemas for very long.

Sorry but it seems that they
a) Thought "f*ck, we've made no money out of this low-budget film, I know! lets sue some people!"
b) Are just passing on the blame to internet users for their lack of preparation when it came to releasing the film.

Note to Voltage Pictures.. Prior Preparation Prevents Piss Poor Performance

iPhone OS 4.0

So last night, Apple had a conference about the new OS for iPod Touch and iPhone.
To sum it up, its fuckin' wicked and theres barely any need to jailbreak now...

Heres it all summed up. This is taken from the user "Jelly" at ipodtouchfans.com

AVAILABILITY AND SUPPORTED DEVICES
iPhone OS 4.0 will be out for iPod Touches and iPhones in Summer 2010.
iPhone OS 4.0 will be out for iPads in Fall 2010.
iPhone 3G/s and iPod touch 3rd gen will have all features.
iPhone 3G and iPod touch 2G will have limited features.
iPod touch 1G and iPhone 2G are not supported.

On April 8th, 2010, hundreds of people gathered at one place to celebrate a new version of the iPhone Operation Operating (fail :P) System: 4.0. If you didn't know about this, or you were at school or work like others, here is a round up on what happened:

Information on products announced....
450,000 iPads were sold to this date (8th April /10)
600,000 Books in the iBooks store
3.5 million iPad apps downloaded to this date.
4 billion regular apps downloaded to this date (185,000 regular apps on the App Store)
3500 iPad apps in total on the App Store.
There are a total of 85 million iPods and iPhones bought to this date.
Mobile Safari takes 64% of the mobile browser cake.

"There will be 1500 new APIs. In-app SMS, Calendar, Automated testing, Full map overlays, full access to still and video camera data, carrier information, ICC profiles, Image I/O, half-curl page transition, Quick Look, package-based documents, call event notifications, iPod remote control accessories, Draggable map annotations and a few more. Nothing super amazing in here that we see in here." -Jason Chen (Gizmodo)

Here are some new items added:
-In-app SMS
-Bluetooth keyboards
-5X digital zoom (camera)
-home screen wallpaper! (change lock screen, homescreen, or both)
-MULTITASKING (double-click home button to use) Here's how it works. You can have 4 (EDIT: it can hold more than 4. This was found out on an engadget first look video) apps in the background. To keep your device from slowing, every developer can choose which aspects of their app to background. Therefore, the whole app isn't backgrounded: just main parts of the app. NOT FOR 2G iPod, 3G iPhone
-Unified Inbox
-Folders - Kind of a better version of the Jailbreak app "Categories". Removes clutter of apps in the springboard. Easy to find applications now.
-iBooks Store for iPhone/touch
-Enterprise - Even better data protection. It encrypts email and attachments. There will be APIs available so developers can encrypt stuff inside their own apps. Also, Mobile Device management.
-Game Center - A giant Apple-made social gaming center. Nuff said.
-iAds (there have been 1 billion ad impressions per day, Apple wants in) Apple is helping developers (free ones as well) add advertisements to make money.

Seven Services:
1. Background audio - music from apps in the background
2. Voice-over (VoIP) - talk over VoIp (Skype, etc) while in another app
3. Background location - GPS in the background, indication in status bar of location tracking
4. Push - (After 9 months, they've pushed over 10 billion notifications)
5. Local Notifications
6. Task Completion - finish task in background
7. Fast App Switching - app stops completely, and starts from where it left off when you're back.

Looks like ill be unjailbreaking once this comes out...

How Many Activision Employees Does It Take To Make Guitar Hero Drums?

Fuck all.

I got Band Hero today (had it on layby, got full band set for 150... bargain). Got it home, opened it up and was about to play Guitar Hero: Van Halen... to find the plugs for the bass kick pedal were not working -_-. I was furious as I was worried I would have to send it away. The reason for this was Clark got a set last year around this time, got it, next day they fucked up. Activision had a no store refunds policy and you had to make a claim with Activision and send it away. So I was pretty fuckin' mad that this may happen to me. I rang Activision and to my surprise... you can now return it to the store. Apparently Activion got their arses handed to them by Australian Law (one act states that if a product is faulty and it is within the agreed warranty period, then you have the right to exchange it or get a refund). So I rang K-Mart and they now have another full kit for me waiting for me to exchange for after work.

I swear if I wasn't allowed to exchange it, I would have been raging so bad at Activision.

New DS

Taken from the Nintendo Press release;

"March 23, 2010

To Whom It May Concern:
Re: Launch of New Portable Game Machine

Nintendo Co., Ltd. (Minami-ward of Kyoto-city, President Satoru Iwata) will launch "Nintendo 3DS"(temp) during the fiscal year ending March 2011, on which games can be enjoyed with 3D effects without the need for any special glasses.

"Nintendo 3DS"(temp) is going to be the new portable game machine to succeed "Nintendo DS series", whose cumulative consolidated sales from Nintendo amounted to 125 million units as of the end of December 2009, and will include backward compatibility so that the software for Nintendo DS series, including the ones for Nintendo DSi, can also be enjoyed.

We are planning to announce additional details at E3 show, which is scheduled to be held from June 15, 2010 at Los Angeles in the U.S."

So this means a...

- New Handheld
- 3D without needing glasses
- Backwards Compatible with DS and DSi

How the shit they're gonna pull of 3D without glasses whilst still making it affordable... I do not know but if its got some graphical compatibility updates (other than the 3D thing) then they've got me sold.

Read this other source aswell for some more info here

New Pokemon Game

Okay so as I said in my previous post, I got Pokemon SS (no, its not some secret service).
So far what i'v played of it, it's awesome! Playing it is very nostalgic of my younger days playing Pokemon Crystal on my Pikachu Gameboy Colour.

Anyways so I checked out the Pokemon website 'cause I remembered on Pear/Diamond/Platinum that they had Wi-Fi events. On the new HG/SS website they've announced a new route for your Pokewalker called the Yellow Forest Route... Apparently it will have just Pikachu but different types of them... so check it out here
